Deer Tagging
Deer tagging is an important method of tracing the movements of a herd of wild deer, with good public participation and industry co-operation a picture can soon be built up of this elusive creatures range.
There is very limited knowledge of the range and movement habits of Red deer, this project aims to redress that balance and build a better understanding. With funding and assistance from the British Deer Society (BDS) and the Deer Initiative and with the RSPB at Minsmere coming on board it should give the project a welcome boost.
In the 4 years that this has been running tagged deer have been spotted as far as 20 miles away from the original tag location.
