Tagging Program's

Picture
Red Calf tagging has been carried out by the Breckland Deer Group since the spring of 2007, the Breckland Deer Group consists of the five largest landowners in the area which are the Forestry Commission, Elveden estate, Euston estate and the Ministry of Defence. The group meet twice a year in the spring and autumn with the main objective being to discuss overall deer numbers and culling policy for the area.

Following some interesting results from the deer groups program the RSPB have decided to start a twin tagging program with their red deer at the Minsmere reserve. The two areas will run in partnership, sharing results freely for the interest of red deer research. The British Deer Societies East Anglian Branch will act as an impartial member to collect and disperse any incoming data from the public
