Tagging Objectives

Picture
The main objective of the tagging is to record where, and how far individual animals move within or out of the two partners areas.

In addition it may be possible to extract the following information from the tagged deer:

The use of different seasonal areas, total distances traveled and if regular routes are used, calving patterns and regular herd sizes in addition to antler growth rates and quality of individual stags.

Following some interesting results from the deer groups program the RSPB have decided to start a twin tagging program with their red deer at the Minsmere reserve. The two areas will run in partnership, sharing results freely for the interest of red deer research and the British Deer Societies East Anglia Branch will act as an impartial member to collect and disperse any incoming data from the public.
